The VNFC is a non-profit Indigenous-led organization located on Southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, on the traditional lands of the Lekwungen speaking People of the Songhees and Xwsepsum Nations.
Since 1969, the VNFC has been mandated to encourage and promote the well-being of urban Indigenous people by strengthening individuals, families, and community. Up to 200 compassionate staff members deliver over 75+ programs and services to the estimated over 21,000 off-reserve Indigenous people in community, as well as supporting on-reserve citizens in the 10 local nations.
VNFC offers unique wrap-around programming that includes full daycare, early childhood development programs, family violence prevention, law and health services, mental health and addictions supports, education and employment programs, youth services, food security programs, housing supports and services, Elders programs, a full community kitchen, cultural and arts events.
Our competitive compensation package includes extended cost-shared benefits and a pension plan. Our team includes people of all Indigenous identities; some who are close to their communities and others who are on a path to learn more about their heritage. In recognition of the importance of a lived understanding of Indigenous communities, history, values and culture, preference is given to Indigenous applicants. Please self-identify in your cover letter. Applicants must be able to work legally in Canada, with all positions located in Victoria, BC. VNFC is unable to sponsor employment visas or offer work permits or remote work at this time.
Preference will be given to qualified Canadian Indigenous applicants. Indigenous applicants are encouraged to self-identify in their application.
This preference reflects our commitment to strengthening Indigenous representation within our workforce and supporting the delivery of culturally relevant, community-informed services to the Indigenous people and communities we serve.
